Patient #1

When Helene Blanchard started experiencing random falls about ten years ago, medical tests revealed she had severe autoimmune neuropathy. At the time, her daughters were balancing studies and work, and the family was constantly worried she might fall when they weren’t around.

“We soon began to wonder: what if there was a way to automatically alert my family if I had a fall, especially if I was unconscious or unable to make the call myself?”

Helene is the catalyst behind the idea for My Medic Watch, a digital health company offering smart-detection apps for automatic fall and seizure alerts. She is one of 26 speakers at the NSW Smart Sensing Network‘s 3rd Ageing Forum, which is being held tomorrow at Parliament of NSW.
