Frequently Asked Questions
-
1.How does My Medic Watch app work?
My Medic Watch apps automatically detect falls or seizure-like movement, using proprietary and innovative algorithms to interpret data automatically captured by smartwatch sensor technologies.
If an individual has a fall or a seizure-like movement, My Medic Watch app automatically detects the event and notifies his/her caregivers, providing details of the individual’s location. Each alert recipient can send a response advising whether they are able to assist, which is forwarded to both the individual and the other caregivers.
The Fall Alert and Seizure-like movement Alert app cannot be downloaded and used concurrently as the sensors interfere with each other.
-

The My Medic Watch seizure-like movement app captures 'generalised tonic-clonic seizures', also known as convulsive seizures or grand mal seizures.

23.8 tips to maximise the battery life of your smartwatch
Battery life is the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged. By maximising it, you will get the most out of your device and your My Medic Watch app. Regardless of the brand of your smartwatch or the operating system it uses (e.g. iOS, Android, Tizen) you can optimise and extend the battery life on your device by following these tips:
1) Update the latest operating system software version
Always make sure your device is using the latest software version as manufacturers are constantly improving them with advanced energy-saving technologies.
2) Update your device with the latest version of My Medic Watch app
We are constantly improving our technology. By keeping the latest version of the Fall or Seizure app, you will ensure that it runs smoothly as possible on your device.
3) Avoid extreme temperatures
Every device is designed to perform in an ideal temperature comfort zone. Avoid exposing your device to extreme temperatures (both heat and cold) as it can damage the battery.
4) Remove unused apps from your watch
Each app you install on your watch needs to communicate with your phone, draining the battery in the process. Choose carefully what other apps other than My Medic Watch app you need installed on your watch according to your needs.
5) Adjust the brightness level of the display
A good way to preserve the battery of your device is to lower the brightness of the display. We suggest reducing the brightness, but just as far as you feel is acceptable to see the screen’s contents.
6) Disable wrist gestures
Whether you are an Android or iOS user, you can disable wrist gestures on your android device or the Wrist Raise feature on your Apple watch. If you disable this feature, it will increase your battery life.
7) Try a different watch face
Some watch faces, especially those with animations or interactive features use up more battery life than others. Select a watch face that use fewer colours to improve your battery life.
8) Turn off unnecessary notifications
Getting notifications on your wrist is a big advantage of been wearing a smartwatch, however you can filter out the unnecessary ones. Go to your settings and disable notifications from the apps you don’t really need. Just be careful to not deactivate notifications from the My Medic Watch app.
Remember that other ways to maximise the battery life of your smartwatch could affect the performance of your My Medic Watch app. Be careful to not limit the connectivity of your watch, disabling features like the Bluetooth, Wi-fi or GPS location as doing so will affect the My Medic Watch app you are using. In the same sense, turning off notifications from the My Medic Watch app, disabling the heart rate monitor or any other sensor, or turning off the sound will affect the ability for your My Medic Watch app to work and provide alerts.
If you have any question regarding this issue, don’t hesitate to contact My Medic Watch team, we will be more than happy to help you.
