The 14th to the 20th of October marked National Carers week in Australia with a week of activities acknowledging the important work of carers all across the country. The week was full of events to celebrate and support these important individuals, with additional celebrations and meet-ups taking place throughout the year. In 2015 there were 2.7 million unpaid carers in Australia. With over 90% of adults aged of 65 and over preferring to stay at home as they age, the need for carers is more important than ever. Family, friends, and neighbours provide 80% of the care for the elderly. My Medic Watch has been created to help relieve carers from worrying about their loved ones, allowing the elderly, persons with chronic illnesses, to live more independently at home providing piece of mind, autonomy and security.
